Participants of this course will gain knowledge in the areas of coding concepts and modifiers, scope and statistical sampling methodologies, medical record auditing skills and abstraction ability, quality assurance and risk analysis, and communication of results and findings. Also demonstrate knowledge and expertise in covering auditing theory, legal and regulatory issues, NCCI edits and RAC audits. This course will prepare you to take the AAPC Certified Professional Medical Record Auditor (CPMA) exam.
Recommended pre-requisite knowledge: A minimum of 2 years experience in a physician coding environment with a strong background in medical terminology & anatomy, along with evaluation and management (E&M) coding skills, or successful completion of the core coding courses of an accredited program, or any of the following credentials: CEMC®, CPC®, CPC-A®, CPC-H®, CPC-P®, CCS-P, CCS, CMC, RHIT or RHIA.
