Bryant & Stratton College announced today its official status as a member of the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE), the only institutional association for college varsity esports.
Membership in NACE allows the College to compete in regular season varsity games against programs at more than 130 member schools. Bryant & Stratton College announced earlier this year that an esports program would be available to student athletes beginning this fall. Student-athletes can qualify for up to $14,000 each in scholarships at the College.
“We are thrilled about joining the NACE family and adding esports to our athletic program roster,” said Erik Blackwell, athletic director at Bryant & Stratton College. “Competitive gaming is one of world’s fastest growing sports. This certification further supports our commitment to offering in-demand opportunities for our students.”
Bryant & Stratton College is the sixth higher education institution in Virginia to offer esports as an official varsity sport. Bryant & Stratton College has created a 500-square foot esports lab where their co-ed team will practice and compete online in games such as League of Legends, Smash Brothers, Hearthstone, Overwatch, Paladins, Rocket League and Smite. Students can begin trying out for the team and apply for scholarships and aid now.

Since 2016, our members started developing the structure and tools needed to advance collegiate esports in the varsity space. NACE currently has over 144 varsity esports programs as members and is growing at a rapid rate. www.nacesports.org
