The Professional Skills Center offers a variety of healthcare-related courses and training solutions in conjunction with our comprehensive Allied Health degree and diploma programs. Utilizing a practical, hands-on approach, our courses combine real-life examples and cutting edge technology to make learning more relevant, understandable, and applicable. Technician Program 2016 - Albany

Medical Billing The Medical Billing program prepares participants for employment as entry-level medical billers in a physician practice, hospital or clinic.
Medical Coding The Medical Coding program prepares participants for employment as entry-level medical coders, Certified Professional Coders (CPC), or Certified Coding Specialists (CCS). This program will cover topics such as: Medical Terminology, Anatomy, Ethics and the use of CPT® , HCPCS and ICD-9 manuals. This program will lead up to students taking the national exam.
EKG/Phlebotomy EKG Technicians will gain skills needed to: prepare the patient, perform the procedure and ensuring the EKG machine functions properly. The EKG technician may also assist with stress tests, (both Pharmacological and Exercise), and Holter monitoring.

Phlebotomy Technicians will gain the skills needed for the proper collection of blood and other specimens used for diagnostic testing. Emphasis is on ethics, legalities, medical terminology, safety and universal precautions, health care delivery systems, patient relations, anatomy and physiology, and specimen collection. Certification is provided by the National Healthcareer Association.
