On Wednesday, Nov. 12, the Bobcats traveled down to Henderson, NC to face the Vance-Granville Vanguards. The game started off slow with neither team taking control through the first few minutes of the half. That all changed with back to back dunks from Marquise Johnson and Timothy Hewett, both dunks coming off of steals. For the rest of the half, the Bobcats maintained control and took a 39-25 halftime lead. In the second half, the Bobcats kept the game out of reach, holding a strong double digit lead the rest of the way. Despite a poor free-throw shooting performance by the Bobcats, they were able to hold off the Vanguards on their home court with a final score of 82-70. Sophomore transfer Rahson Robinson led the way with 14 points and 10 rebounds, Jaleel Ferguson also added 11 points along with 10 rebounds. Timothy Hewett had 12 points and Marquise Johnson contributed with 11 points. On Saturday, Nov. 15, the Bobcats traveled to Sandhills CC in Southern Pines, NC for the Region 10 Blastoff. There they faced the Central Carolina Community College Cougars, who recently beat last year’s Region 10 Tournament winner Wake Tech CC. The first eight minutes of the game saw both teams scoring and neither taking a decisive lead. Troy Mills came off the bench and made three straight 3 pointers, which allowed the Bobcats to extend the lead to 21-13 with 10 minutes to go in the half. The sharp shooting by Troy Mills sparked the Bobcats the rest of the half and they were able to keep the lead going into halftime 42-34. To start the second half the Bobcats went on a 12-4 run which extended the lead to 54-38 through the first 5 minutes of the second half. Devon Mayo was locked in defensively and took on the assignment of Central Carolina’s best ball handlers, making it difficult for them to get into a rhythm in the second half, which played a huge role in the outcome of the game. The Bobcats kept their great shooting performance for the rest of the game and finished with final score 94-79. Rahson Robinson led the Bobcats in points with 18 and also had six rebounds. Sophomore returners Troy Mills and Demonte Burns were also key to the big victory with Mills finishing with 15 points, connecting on five 3 pointers and Burns finishing with 15 points and 7 assists. Edward Gordon had 10 points and Andre Stanley finished with 10 rebounds. There was great effort shown by the entire team on both offense and defense for 40 minutes of basketball. Up next, the Bobcats Game 6 will be the team’s first home game of the season against Guilford Tech Community College this Saturday, Nov. 22, 4:00 PM at Maury High School in Norfolk, VA. Admission is
