Bobcats Ranked2 in the Nation as they Tie the 2013 USCAA National Champions 1-1
By B&SC News Team
Syracuse, NY – Off to a 4-0-1 tremendous start, the Bryant & Stratton College men’s soccer team is ranked #2 in the nation in the first United States Collegiate Athletic Association national poll.
Bryant & Stratton has plowed through the competition thus far, while outscoring their competition 29-1 with four shutouts.
“We are both honored and humbled to be recognized #2 in the nation in our first year by the USCAA,” Coach Nick Dimitrievski said.
The Bobcats tied West Virginia Tech who is the reigning 2013 USCAA national champions last week 1-1. A packed house witnessed a nail-bitter as the Bobcats struck first. LeShaun Young converted a penalty shot thirty minutes into the game to put the bobcats in the lead. The remainder of the game was back and forth like a heavy weight fight. With 7 minutes remaining in the game, West Virginia capitalized on a missed breakaway by Shavon John-Brown. The kick save by the goalkeeper started a fast break in the other direction that saw the Golden Bears score the tying goal. Both team fought hard as the game ended in a draw after regulation and overtime play.
“We didn’t play our best game and still tied the reigning national champions. I am proud of the outcome and feel our young team has gained valuable experience playing against the elite 4 year colleges in the country,” Coach Nick Dimitrievski said.
The Bobcats resume play as they travel to play Albany College of Pharmacy on Sunday, October 5, 2014 @ 3:00pm.
