RICHMOND, Va., Nov. 15, 2012 – Bryant & Stratton College will offer a comprehensive new degree program encompassing hospitality management, travel-and-tourism services and event-planning beginning with its winter semester Jan. 16
The new program will confer an Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences in Hospitality Management-Restaurant and Hotel Services. It is expected to open the doors to fast-growing career opportunities for its graduates.
“Richmond’s recent growth as a center for the arts and entertainment is mirrored in a growth in tourism,” said the College’s Director of Virginia Campuses Beth Murphy. “Recently we have hosted an internationally acclaimed folk music festival, the filming of Steven Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln,’ a huge expansion of the already world-class Virginia Museum of Fine Arts,” she said, “and that trend has prompted many spin-offs. We are pleased that among them has been an increase in demand for jobs in the fields our new degree will meet.
“In addition to the fact that the Bureau of Labor Statistics says careers in the hospitality field are growing,” Murphy said, “we have relied on the insights of our business partners in the hospitality industry to create an innovative curriculum to meet their growing needs for capable, skilled and knowledgeable graduates.”
The new degree program will prepare students for key roles in not hotels and restaurants but in the entertainment, sports and food-and-beverage industries as well. It will also open doors for graduates in event, meeting and recreational planning management
Enrollment applications are now available at Bryant & Stratton College’s Richmond Campus. The College’s Director of Admissions Rayford Grady will provide additional information and assist prospective students to enroll in the program. He can be reached at 804-745-2444.
