New York City Brings Positive Energy for the Lady Bobcats
By B&SC News Team
This weekend the Lady Bobcats went to Long Island, NY to play back to back games against Nassau CC and the Fashion Institute of Technology. On Saturday, the team faced Nassau CC. The Lady Bobcats had outstanding support from the parents present at the game. During the game, the team lost one of its important players – Kai Jacobs (Antigua, VI) due to the injury. However, the Lady Bobcats had a good appearance and learned some valuable lessons playing against one of the top college in New York. The final scored showed a painful 0:3 loss for the away team.
On Sunday, the Lady Bobcats played against the Fashion Institute of Technology on the Kingsborough CC field, which is located in a gorgeous area seconds away from the ocean and Manhattan Beach. An impressive crowd of parents showed up to the game again with balloons, banners and noise making toys. As soon as the game begun our team took full control of the ball. However, the home team scored first. The Lady Bobcats did not give up and a few opportunities on goal were created by Monique Surf (Queens, NY), Nicolette Weir (Mount Vernon, NY) and Adela Racic (Utica, NY) but the scoreboard did not move. Closer to the end of the first half, the Lady Bobcats scored with a goal by freshman Adela Racic (Utica, NY). The second half was started strong by the Lady Bobcats who took the lead quickly by scoring twice – Adela Racic (Utica, NY) and Nicolette Weir (Mount Vernon, NY). The final whistle blew with a score of 3:2 for our team and provided a great mood for the trip back to Syracuse. “This was a great weekend for us. We had great weather; we played two strong teams, and a lot of our players had a chance to play in front of their parents. The support provided by them was outstanding. I saw a lot pride, emotion and happiness in parents’ eyes. They were proud to see their children playing at the college level” said coach Grigorita after the game “and I am proud of them too, as I see them improving and growing as players every day”.
