Home / News / Resources for LGBTQIA+ and Their Allies July 6, 2022 Resources for LGBTQIA+ and Their Allies By B&SC Blog Team LGBTQIA+ students are a vital part of the Bryant & Stratton College community. Whether they’re on-campus or online, they bring perspectives, experiences and energy that enrich every class and every discussion. But it isn’t easy. Being a college student is challenging to begin with. Doing it while living your truth can add just that much more complication. At Bryant & Stratton College, we see you and we want to make sure that you have the support you need. That’s why we’ve put together these resources: to make sure that our LGBTQ students know where to turn when they need a little backup. We’ve also included resources for our non-LGBTQIA+ students on how they can become better allies and provide the backup that their fellow Bobcats need. For LGBTQIA+ Bobcats Center Link Center Link is the LGBTQIA+ community center of LGBTQIA+ community centers. No matter where you are, it can help you find groups and centers near you. GLSEN GLSEN works to ensure that students of every sexual orientation and gender identity are valued and respected in every school they attend. They’re great advocates and advisors. GLAAD GLAAD is one of the biggest organizations dedicated to ensuring that LGBTQIA+ people are seen. For Bobcat Allies Better Allies “Better Allies,” by Karen Catlin, is the definitive book (and newsletter) on what you can do to become a better ally in the classroom and the workplace. Straight For Equality Straight For Equality provides constantly updated PDF guides that can help you advance your understanding and practice of allyship. 50+ Resources for LGBTQIA Allies LGTBQIA+ Literature Books With LGBTQIAP+ Protagonists Epic Reads celebrates YA books with LGBTQIA+ protagonists year round, but this month they have gathered a list of the best books for you to read. Stonewall Book Awards List The Stonewall Book Award is described as “the first and most enduring award for LGBTQIA+ books.” This page provides you with a list of winners over the past few years. The American Society for Engineering Education might not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of LGBTQIA+ allyship. But they have a very well-developed curriculum on how to foster a supportive environment in college classrooms.
