(March 10, 2014) — Five Bryant & Stratton College associates have received Certificates of Achievement as new members of Chesterfield County’s Community Emergency Response Team – CERT, for short. CERT training imparts critical emergency skills necessary to complement the work of County emergency services during major disasters. CERT volunteers learn to provide help for co-workers, citizens, community and family members whenever and wherever they are needed. The College’s new CERT members will augment the work of Bryant & Stratton College’s safety committee, which conducts drills each year for its students and staff. “The safety of our students and staff is paramount at Bryant & Stratton College,” said Campus Director Joette Lehberger, “and we congratulate our five associates for their willingness to undergo the CERT training necessary to receive their certificates. They are now an integral part of our ongoing safety activities as well as qualified to assist in emergencies in the communities we are proud to serve.” Chesterfield County’s CERT training is free and available throughout the year. The training teaches volunteers how to react in emergencies of all kinds, including terrorism, technological disasters and severe weather. Interested citizens may receive additional information by calling 804-751-CERT or emailing [email protected].
