Pharmacy Technician
Prepare yourself to work in a clinical or retail pharmacy setting with the Pharmacy Technician certificate program. Coursework covers both lecture and lab-based theory and practice that provides students a foundation for the real-world situations they'll encounter working in a pharmacy. Areas of focus include proper dosage calculations, drug classifications, inventory control and proper dispensing of prescriptions.
Program Highlights
The pharmacy tech course program covers 160 total hours of study broken into two 80-hour segments. The first segment covers 80 classroom lecture and lab hours, providing students the theory and structure utilized in the field. The second segment is a clinical externship at a local pharmacy which provides real-world experience for each student. In order to be eligible for the externship, students must successfully complete the 80-hour classroom program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening and meet other requirements. Tuition does not include the cost of the PTCB pharmacy technician certification exam fee.
