HUSS400 - Human Services Disaster Planning and Management

Semester Credit Hour(s): 3

This course explores the principles of disaster planning for human services organizations. Students consider the various types of disasters and hazards, as well as populations who are at high risk during a disaster. Students will also examine the principles of disaster planning and preparedness for human services organizations, as well as the major elements of disaster response. Coordinating among various community organizations, providing human and social services in the short- and long-term during and after a disaster, and supporting vulnerable populations during disaster recovery will also be covered.

Prerequisite(s): HUSS100 or HTHS110
