As advances in technology continue, professionals need to be prepared to use technology to advance within their chosen career field. This program of study is designed to prepare students to succeed in all areas of business, including professional offices, public institutions, and government agencies. Students will become proficient in modern office technology and equipment, workplace procedures, document processing and design, and communication skills, and will be able to utilize innovative technology to enhance and improve office procedures. In addition, students will develop the interpersonal, decision-making, and analytical skills required to resolve workplace problems and situations. This program combines a well-balanced academic program with expert administrative and computer instruction to give students the diversified educational training and background needed to be successful in many areas of the business world.

Graduates of this degree plan will achieve the following program and institutional outcomes:

  • Utilize current and innovative office technology in the operation of office procedures including document production, record-keeping, and file management in the office environment and/or virtual workplace.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively and professionally in a team-oriented environment using current technologies.
  • Apply critical thinking skills to evaluate workplace problems and propose solutions.
  • Apply managerial and ethical business principles to a diverse, global workplace.
  • Evaluate computer technology applications in the office environment to choose the best application for the project to be completed.
  • Interpret and evaluate data in order to extract meaningful information to support data-informed decisions.
  • Utilize current technology and resources to identify a research need, locate and evaluate necessary  and available information, and then use it appropriately to communicate findings in visual, written, or oral formats.
  • Integrate new and prior knowledge, skills, and behaviors acquired through learning to engage in career, life, and academic pursuits.
  • Examine individual thinking strategies through reflection, analysis, and evaluation to adjust learning processes focused on continual improvement.
  • Follow established methods of scientific inquiry and quantitative reasoning to form conclusions and make decisions.
