Prepare yourself to work in a clinical or retail pharmacy setting with the Pharmacy Technician certificate program. Coursework provides students a foundation for the real-world situations they’ll encounter working in a pharmacy. Areas of focus include proper dosage calculations, drug classifications, inventory control and proper dispensing of prescriptions. Build the foundation for a successful future as a pharmacy technician with this immersive program. Upon completion of the classroom portion, students will pursue an externship with a local pharmacy which provides real – world experience for each student. Completion of the program will prepare students to sit for the national certification exam titled Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE), offered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
The online pharmacy tech program is self-paced, 100% online, and can be completed in 12 months or less. Coursework covers pharmacy law and ethics, pharmaceutical calculations, pharmacology, and more. Once coursework is completed, a 100-hour externship at a pharmacy is required for those that qualify. Background checks will be conducted prior to the student’s admittance into the externship course. Upon successfully completing the program and fulfilling the financial obligation, you’ll be awarded a certificate of completion. In addition, you will receive an exam voucher to sit for the National Certification Exam which is the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE), offered by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
This course is open enrollment, so you can register and start the course as soon as you are ready. Access to your course can take 24-48 business hours.
