Winter Nursing Pinning Ceremony

Milwaukee, WI Area

April 23, 2026

Bryant & Stratton College’s Milwaukee Area Campuses are thrilled to honor its nursing graduates at the Nursing Pinning Ceremony. This event highlights the perseverance, dedication, and academic achievements of students as they prepare to embark on meaningful careers in nursing.

The Pinning Ceremony is a cherished tradition that symbolizes the transition from nursing student to professional. Each graduate receives a nursing pin, a significant emblem of their readiness to uphold the principles of compassionate care, excellence, and ethical responsibility in the healthcare field.

This ceremony not only recognizes the hard work and accomplishments of graduates but also pays tribute to the support of faculty, family, and friends. It celebrates the start of a rewarding journey dedicated to improving lives and providing exceptional patient care.

History Of The Nursing Pin

The nursing pin is steeped in history, tracing its roots to the 12th century, when knights received badges for acts of service. Florence Nightingale adapted this practice in the 1860s, presenting medals of excellence to her graduating nurses at the Nightingale School of Nursing in London.

In 1880, the Bellevue Hospital School of Nursing in New York City awarded the first nursing pin in the United States. This tradition has since become a global symbol of achievement, with each institution creating a unique pin to represent its values and mission.

The nursing pin remains a powerful emblem of academic success and professional dedication. It signifies a graduate’s commitment to providing compassionate care and making a lasting impact in the communities they serve.
