Home / News / Syracuse to Benefit from Area’s First Accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program August 17, 2016 Syracuse to Benefit from Area’s First Accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program By B&SC News Team Students and the community alike will benefit from a newly accredited occupational therapy assistant (OTA) program at Bryant & Stratton College’s Syracuse campus – the only one like it in the area. “It is so exciting for central New York to finally have an accredited OTA program,” said John Patro, Jr., OTA program director at Bryant & Stratton College. “This is a much needed program.” OTAs help patients develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working. Considered one of the fastest growing careers, OTAs are ranked as the top healthcare support job in 2016 by U.S. News & World Report. Demand for OTAs is expected to grow 40% over the next decade, due in large part to an aging population.
