Student Commencement Speaker Series, Part 5: Keziah Williams-Daniels' Path from Chaos to Clarity

When Keziah Williams-Daniels crossed the stage to accept her AAS in Paralegal Studies diploma from Bryant & Stratton College’s Albany Campus, she carried the memory of every late night, every sacrifice, and every doubt she had pushed through to get there along with the quiet pride of knowing it had all been worth it.

Keziah was selected to serve as one of two Student Commencement Speakers for the Albany campus Class of 2025/2026. It was a milestone she describes as surreal, and one that confirmed something she had wondered for a long time: that her journey truly mattered.

Bringing Order to Chaos

Keziah’s decision to pursue a career in the legal field came from a combination of lived experience and a clear sense of purpose. She has always been drawn to work that requires clarity, advocacy, and structure, but her motivation went deeper than that.

“I’ve seen how overwhelming legal processes can be for everyday people,” Keziah explained. “I wanted to be someone who brings order to chaos and helps others navigate systems that often feel inaccessible.”

That desire to help others find their footing in confusing, high-stakes situations became the foundation of her education and the goals she’s carrying into her future career.

An Education Built on Real Legal Work

Keziah mentioned how Bryant & Stratton College prepared her for more than just the technical side of paralegal work. The coursework closely mirrored real legal work, from drafting motions and analyzing case law to preparing client-ready documents.

One course in particular left a lasting mark on her: Legal Research & Writing. “It taught me how to think like a legal professional, not just a student,” Keziah shared. Beyond the curriculum, she points to the faculty members who took the time to truly see her. “The most impactful experiences were the moments when professors didn’t just teach, they saw me,” she said. “Their feedback pushed me to refine my writing and trust my voice.”

A Journey That Wasn’t Linear

Keziah is quick to acknowledge that her path to graduation wasn’t a straight line. As a non-traditional student, she was balancing work and family responsibilities while also adjusting to life in a new country. Along the way, she faced moments of uncertainty.

“I had to rebuild my academic confidence and learn to trust that it wasn’t ‘too late’ to start again,” she said. Rather than letting those doubts hold her back, Keziah let them fuel her forward. “Every challenge strengthened my resilience and became part of the reason I pushed harder.”

Finding the Words for Commencement

When Keziah first learned she’d been chosen as a Student Commencement Speaker, the news didn’t feel real right away. “I read the message twice, then a third time, just to make sure I wasn’t imagining it,” she recalled. “My first reaction was a mix of shock, gratitude, and quiet pride. In that moment, every late night, every sacrifice, and every doubt felt seen.”

As she prepared her speech, Keziah knew exactly who she wanted to speak to: the students who had to fight through life while earning their degree just like her. She built her message around the idea of crossing literal and invisible borders, including the border between who she was and who she was becoming, the border between fear and courage, and the border between surviving and thriving.

“My goal was to make my classmates feel seen, celebrated, and provide encouragement,” she said.

The Line She Hopes They Remember

Of everything Keziah shared on stage, one moment stands out to her most: the point in her speech where she spoke about daring to dream again, even when life has tried to convince you to shrink.

“Your dreams don’t expire. You can begin again at any age, any stage, any chapter,” she said. “That message wasn’t just poetic, it was personal.”

For Keziah, that line captures the heart of her entire journey, one shaped by starting over, rebuilding confidence, and refusing to let circumstance define what was still possible.
