By B&SC News Team
ORCHARD PARK, NY (November 13, 2014) – Bryant & Stratton College today announced it will host a career fair on Wednesday, November 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its Amherst campus in Getzville. Local job seekers can connect with over 30 local companies and organizations about open positions, volunteer opportunities and training options. The employers participating include staffing services, pharmaceutical, insurance and financial services companies, healthcare and insurance providers as well as local and national non-profit organizations.
First-time job seekers or anyone looking for ways to improve their job search skills can also take advantage of free, one-on-one sessions with Bryant & Stratton’s career services experts, who can give job search advice, assistance with resumes and useful strategies for interviews. The sessions will be offered at all three local campus locations Monday, November 17, and Tuesday, November 18, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. During the one-hour sessions, job seekers can take advantage of:
- Customized feedback on their resume or assistance with resume creation
- Expert advice on drafting cover letters
- Instructions and strategies on how to effectively search for jobs using keywords and popular job posting websites
- Mock interview practice
- Opportunities to have their resume shared with the College’s network of local employers
“Career readiness has been at the heart of Bryant & Stratton College’s mission for the past 160 years, and we are always looking for opportunities to extend our resources, expertise and employer network beyond our students and classrooms to the Western New York community as a whole,” said Paul C. Bahr, Director of the Western New York Campuses of Bryant & Stratton.
This commitment to career readiness was exemplified during a recent event hosted by Bryant & Stratton College, which brought together over 50 employers and educational partners from across Western New York to address the challenges employers are experiencing around workforce development, and to discuss ways educators and employers can work together to better prepare students with the training, skills and competencies they need to enter the workforce and be successful in their careers. Bryant & Stratton is also rolling out EmployableYOU™, a unique education experience that builds tighter connections between theory-based learning in the classroom and the real-world needs of the workplace.
“By hosting career fairs and offering career training sessions for the public, we’re hoping to build even stronger ties between the College and the local employer community. These relationships will mean that we not only prepare our students for success, but also help those in the community who are unemployed or underemployed find the right jobs where they can be successful,” said Mr. Bahr.
