MCCG263 - Professional Coder Practicum

Semester Credit Hour(s): 3

The Professional Coder Practicum course provides hands-on, experiential learning designed to bridge the gap between coding theory and real-world medical coding practice. Students will refine their skills in CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II coding principles through case-based learning, medical documentation abstraction, and timed practice exams. This practicum emphasizes critical thinking and problem-solving skills required for the professional coding environment, including auditing, resolving coding conflicts, and applying payer-specific guidelines. The course prepares students to apply these concepts and supports the knowledge requirements for the AAPC's Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification.

Prerequisite(s): Final Semester of the degree plan
