NURS104 - Clinical Calculations and Medical Terminology for Nursing

Semester Credit Hour(s): 1

The course introduces beginning level students to acquire knowledge and develop proficiency for accurately computing medication dosages for various methods of administration to patients across the lifespan.  This course focuses on components of safe medication calculation and administration.  The emphasis is on accuracy of calculation and the critical thinking involved in client safety.  An introduction to correctly constructing, spelling, defining and using medical terminology is provided.  Provides an overview of terms used in the medical setting.  Clinical application is integrated into the clinical nursing courses.

Prerequisite(s): Admission to the ADN Nursing Program (except NY).
