The student will explore health promotion and disease prevention theories, use of epidemiological models, and application of community and public health standards incorporating the current economic, political, and social issues. Various community and population health issues will be explored, as well as the roles of the community health nurse. Clinical integration provided in a variety of settings help to build professional roles, as a provider of direct and indirect care, advocate, collaborator, designer/manager/coordinator of care, and member of the profession.
Prerequisite(s): NURS301, NURS302, NURS303, NURS313 (revised curriculum 2026), NURS304 , NURS310 (RN-BSN only), NURS312 (RN-BSN only), NURS401 , NURS402, NURS412 (revised curriculum 2026) (all other courses listed except RN-BSN unless noted).
