Students in the Medical Billing and Coding diploma program develop the essential skills to apply elements of the healthcare revenue cycle. This comprehensive training covers the entire billing process, encompassing patient registration, insurance verification, charge entry, claim submission, payment posting, and insurance follow-up. Students will gain a deep understanding of health insurance plans, government payer programs, commercial payers, and key regulatory guidelines. Emphasis is also placed on the use of coding systems (ICD-10-CM, CPT®, and HCPCS Level II) and the relationship to proper claim adjudication and denial resolution. Students completing the diploma program will be prepared to take the Certified Professional Biller (CPB) exam administered by the AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders). Credits for the Medical Billing and Coding diploma program articulate into the Medical Reimbursement & Coding, AAS degree with certification as a CPC.
