Nursing RN to BSN, BSN/ RN to BS Degree in Nursing (NY)

Program: RNNG and RNNY

The RN-BSN/RN-BS option is designed for Associate's degree graduates who have passed the RN-N.C.L.E.X. exam, obtained licensure, and wish to further their education by obtaining a Bachelor's degree in nursing. RN-BSN/RN-BS plan students are advised on an individual basis and transcripts are evaluated on an individual basis for maximum transfer credit. Students must satisfy the requirements of the BSN Generalist degree plan in order to complete the RN-BSN/RN-BS plan. Nursing, biology, and liberal arts courses typically will transfer into the RN-BSN/RN-BS program.

The purpose of RN-BSN/RN-BS program is to assist, the registered nurse, to expand knowledge and skills beyond the clinical aspects of nursing, further develop nursing research abilities, and enhance leadership expertise, needed to be successful in a rapidly changing environment of health care delivery.

Graduates of this degree plan will achieve the following program and institutional outcomes:

• Employ the nursing process to implement comprehensive, safe, quality, culturally competent, person-centered care across the lifespan in all health care settings.
• Apply knowledge, skills, professionalism, advocacy, and foundational leadership using critical thinking, evidence-based practice, and clinical judgement in providing care to individuals, groups, communities, and populations with a variety of healthcare needs.
• Integrate the principles of professional nursing, ethical comportment, in the decision-making process within complex healthcare systems.
• Practice professional nursing in a multidimensional environment with the ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with members of interdisciplinary healthcare teams from diverse backgrounds.

• Articulate how policy, advocacy, finance, and regulatory environments influence healthcare delivery.
