This is the official source of information about Bryant & Stratton College’s plans and important health and safety precautions for the Fall Semester 2020. These plans are based on federal, state, and local requirements and guidance we have at this time, as well as public health recommendations. These health and safety precautions may change at any time in response to the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, changing public health guidelines, evolving governmental requirements and the College’s assessment of what is necessary to protect our community. The College encourages all students to regularly review this page to stay informed about all new updates.
A COVID-19 operations committee has been established across the College to support campus operations, monitor the pandemic and advise on needed protocol adjustments.
Prior to their return, all students will receive a communication from their campus outlining scheduling updates and required safety protocols and practices. Protocols are in place to protect our staff and student community. It is important that you read all communications regarding your campus. There is only so much that any person, organization or government can do to minimize the risk of illness. As we have seen, no community can guarantee all its members will be protected from illness. Our community is no different. Though the College is taking steps to help slow the spread of COVID-19, the responsibility for protecting our community is shared by all members. We each must pledge to do our best to protect ourselves, each other and our community!

Course instruction will be delivered in multiple ways: blended, remote, in-person clinical programs and online. Blended Learning and online instruction are not new to us. We have been delivering select classes through Blended Learning for several years and have over 19 years of experience successfully delivering online courses. Many considerations have gone into how each class is delivered. Class delivery methods will vary by program and student. Students should reach out to their campus registrar for more information on their individual class schedules.
Blended: Combines virtual instruction and in-person meetings. Blended courses have both fewer in-person classes and an online component. Because the virtual portion is self-directed, students will benefit from additional flexibility. This further allows students to enjoy the benefits of on-campus learning while connecting with students and faculty through a virtual environment.
Remote: Simulates a campus environment supported by robust, real-time video interactions online. Like blended courses, the Remote Classroom allows students to enjoy the benefits of on-campus learning and connecting with students and faculty through a virtual environment. Fully remote classes do not require students to come to the campus for any course-related reason. Students in the Remote Classroom experience will have live instruction during designated class times.
In-Person Clinical Program Courses: Instruction is delivered fully in the classroom/lab with interaction between the instructor and student. Students must be able to attend scheduled course meetings on campus. Clinical programs may also contain some blended and remote classes in their curriculum.
Online: A course delivered entirely online. No in-person class meetings are required. Students in an online asynchronous class complete work within a designated time period.

Internships will be determined by state guidelines and the College’s partners at placement sites. In addition to on-site placements, the College has introduced virtual project-based opportunities in certain nonclinical programs, enabling students to fulfill internship requirements in the event in-person placements are not available. These project-based experiences will partner a student with an employer mentor remotely. Both the student and the employer can still tackle some real-time projects together through these micro-internships. Students should speak to their campus career services staff directly for more information.
Communications Plan in the Event of Changes in Operations at Building-Based Locations:
The College will follow the state and federal guidelines regarding campus operations. If guidelines require a change to operations (e.g., remote instruction), faculty, staff and students will receive communications about the change via email, the RAVE Emergency Alert System and social media.

All plans, protocols and procedures have been developed using guidance and recommendations from the CDC, governors’ offices and local departments of health.
This plan (PDF) has been reviewed by the State Council of Higher Education and has been found to be compliant with the Higher Education Reopening Guidance that the council has developed in consultation with the Virginia Department of Health.
