HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
The following COVID-19 Health and Safety Requirements are being implemented across the College to help protect all members of our community from the spread of COVID-19 and are based on the latest guidance from the CDC; state requirements in New York, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin; and guidelines from their respective departments of health. As with all College policies, violations of these health and safety requirements will be addressed according to the Student Code of Conduct. The Student Code of Conduct is made available to you in the Bryant & Stratton College Official Catalog.
Course Delivery
- Updated 9/2/22
- Building-based classes have resumed in-person instruction. Any questions regarding alternative delivery methods that may be available should be directed to your local campus. To the extent that blended and/or remote delivery options may be offered now (or in the future), please read below for brief descriptions of these modalities.
- Blended: Combines virtual instruction and in-person meetings. Blended courses have both fewer in-person classes and an online component. Because the virtual portion is self-directed, students will benefit from additional flexibility. This further allows students to enjoy the benefits of on-campus learning while connecting with students and faculty through a virtual environment.
- Remote: Simulates a campus environment supported by robust, real-time video interactions online. Like blended courses, the Remote Classroom allows students to enjoy the benefits of on-campus learning and connecting with students and faculty through a virtual environment. Fully remote classes do not require students to come to the campus for any course-related reason. Students in the Remote Classroom experience will have live instruction during designated class times.
- In-Person Clinical Program Courses: Instruction is delivered fully in the classroom/lab with interaction between the instructor and student. Students must be able to attend scheduled course meetings on campus. Clinical programs may also contain some blended and remote classes in their curriculum.
- Online: A course delivered entirely online. No in-person class meetings are required. Students in an online asynchronous class complete work within a designated time period
- Internships: Internships have resumed normal operations with the College’s partners. Should changes be necessitated based on state guidelines and/or the guidelines of the College’s partners at placement sites, this will be communicated with any students impacted and steps taken to ensure students still can obtain the benefits that come from the internship experience. Students should speak to their campus career services staff directly for more information.
- Communications Plan in the Event of Changes in Operations at Building-Based Locations: The College will follow any applicable state and federal guidelines regarding campus operations. If guidelines require a change to operations (e.g., remote instruction), faculty, staff and students will receive communications about the change via their College email, the RAVE Emergency Alert System and social media

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement for Syracuse Downtown and Syracuse North Campuses:
-
In addition to the College’s other mandatory vaccines for New York State students, effective January 2023 students enrolled in a clinical degree program, students who reside in the residence halls and/or students who are a student-athlete at the College’s Syracuse Downtown and Syracuse North campuses will be required to be fully immunized against COVID-19.
To meet this requirement, these students will need to provide documentation showing they have been fully vaccinated with one of the following vaccines:
the two-dose Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine, or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine. Student athletes, residence hall students and all students enrolled in clinical healthcare programs are also required to receive the booster vaccine at the point of eligibility. Eligibility as recommended by the CDC is at least 5 months after the second dose of Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine and in at least 4 months after receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Acceptable documentation of vaccination is either your completed CDC vaccination card or certificate of immunization from a licensed physician. In order to be deemed “fully vaccinated”,
you must have received either your second dose (of a two-dose vaccine) or your one dose (of a single-dose vaccine) at least two weeks prior to the
first date you will be on campus.
For residence hall students, this means you must be fully vaccinated prior to the date you will be moving into the residence halls.
For student athletes, this means you must be fully vaccinated prior to the date of your first practice or move in date (whichever is earlier).
-
Students may request a medical or religious exemption from the COVID-19 vaccination requirement by completing the exemption request form and submitting
the information and documentation required. Exemption requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
The exemption request form may be obtained by contacting Associate Dean of Student Services, Andrea Pallone (ampallone@bryantstratton.edu).

Resident students who are not fully immunized against COVID-19, are expected to comply with the following health and safety requirements,
in addition to all of the College’s other COVID-19 health and safety requirements:
-
Unvaccinated resident students at the College’s Syracuse Campus will be required to be tested according to a testing schedule developed
by the College in consideration of then-current circumstances. Students will be responsible for scheduling their test at an off-campus location
and subsequently will be required to provide the results to the College in the designated time frame.
Consistent with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an exemption to testing exists for any resident student
who tested positive for COVID-19 in the previous 90 days.
-
Unvaccinated resident students are strongly encouraged to remain on-campus and limit travel during the term.
Those who leave Onondaga County are required to sign-out with the Director of Residence Life or Assistant Director, disclose their travel plans,
and may be required to be retested prior to returning based on NYS and College guidelines, unless the resident student has
had a positive COVID-19 test in the past 90 days.
-
Although unvaccinated student residents are not required to wear face coverings while in their own private residence hall room,
they ARE required to wear face coverings at all other times when outside of their room.
- Visitors: Visitors will be allowed at the College, but they are expected to comply with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines, as well as any requirements of the College. Visitors are not permitted in the residence halls.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Updated 3/4/22
- As transmission and infection rates, guidance and/or mandates can change rapidly and may be different in our various locations, the College’s face covering requirements may differ between locations. Please contact your local campus for questions regarding its face covering policy, if any.
- When required, face coverings must be worn properly, covering both the nose and the mouth.
- Face covering expectations will be covered during New Student Orientation.
Hygiene, Cleaning & Disinfection Protocols
- Updated 9/2/22
- The College will engage in enhanced cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing protocols as may be required by mandate and/or necessitated based on local conditions and circumstances. Please contact your campus for specific cleaning schedules and details.
- All members of the College community are urged to have a personal supply of hand sanitizer and to use it frequently. Hand sanitizer stations will be located throughout campus.
- While on campus, students and staff should do their best to limit the sharing of objects, including desks, supplies and workstations. The touching of shared surfaces is discouraged. If shared surfaces must be touched, hands should be washed or sanitized before and after contact. Sharing of items that are difficult to clean or disinfect is discouraged.

Student & Staff Health
- Updated 2/9/22
- The College recommends any student, faculty or staff member demonstrating COVID-19 symptoms be tested for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status. The College will work with the local Department of
Health to provide information on available testing sites.
- Any student or staff member positive for COVID-19 or symptomatic with no test must self-isolate for at least five days from the date of symptom onset. The individual may end isolation after five days if they have been fever-free for twenty-four hours without the use of medication, and other symptoms generally are improving. The individual must continue to wear a face covering for an additional five days when coming to a College campus or location. These isolation requirements apply regardless of vaccination status.
- Any student, faculty or staff who is either unvaccinated or vaccinated and booster eligible but not yet boosted who has had close contact with a laboratory confirmed positive case of COVID-19 must self-quarantine for five days from the date of close contact. The individual may return after five days, but must wear a face covering for an additional five days. The CDC defines “close contact” as being within 6 feet of a laboratory confirmed positive case of COVID-19 for more than 15 minutes, or having direct contact with the infected person’s respiratory secretions (i.e., sharing utensils or drinking glass).
- Any student, faculty or staff member who is fully vaccinated and boosted or who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 90 days does not need to quarantine after close contact so long as they are and remain asymptomatic. These individuals may continue to come to a College campus, location or facility so long as they remain asymptomatic and wear a face covering for ten days from the date of close contact.
- The College recommends that anyone who has had close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 be tested between 5-7 days after the close contact.
- A student should plan to communicate immediately with their faculty if they need to stay home due to illness or because they have had close contact with a laboratory confirmed positive case of COVID-19 and are not exempt from quarantine. We understand your situation may change rapidly. Our goal is to keep our students on track, and we will individually consult with you regarding your options and work with faculty regarding weekly deadlines, etc.
