Our Medical Administrative Assistant Associate of Applied Science Degree program is designed to prepare individuals for a career as a medical administrative assistant in a variety of health care settings including private medical practices, hospitals, clinics, public health departments, government agencies or insurance firms. Students develop important career skills in typing/transcription, document filing/processing, medical billing and coding, medical records handling and medical office procedures. Graduates of the program are qualified and encouraged to take the Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) certification examination and tuition includes a prep course and one exam attempt fee.

Skills You'll Learn
1 Apply coding, billing, records management, transcription and scheduling skills to administrative health care industry standards.
2 Develop professional-level oral and written communication skills.
3 Improve thinking processes and learning strategies through metacognition.
4 Learn computer and informational skills required to perform administrative duties in a health care setting.
5 Perform diverse administrative responsibilities including the management and processing of information and the organization and design of communication procedures.
6 Practice professional interpersonal relations with diverse patients/client customers using a knowledge of medical, legal and ethical issues.
7 Employ information literacy skills through the effective use of technology and information resources to accomplish a goal.
