HUSS450 - Public Policy and Social Advocacy

Semester Credit Hour(s): 3

This course emphasizes a multi-faceted look at national and social policies, factors influencing social policies, and the impact on human services delivery. Students will analyze the processes by which laws and policies affecting human and social services clients are developed and implemented at different levels of government. Students will also gain a deeper understanding of the causes and consequences of poverty and how it affects social policies. Students will explore the role of the human services professional in promoting, implementing, and sustaining effective public policy using various advocacy tools.

Prerequisite(s): HUSS100 or HTHS110
